Meet the maker - Sue Pryke

Meet the maker - Sue Pryke

We are pleased to introduce you the beautiful ceramics from Sue Pryke. This award-winning designer and maker is known for her beautiful shapes and glazes. A fine specialist in tableware and homeware. From cosy mugs for morning coffee to our favourite teapot for afternoon tea. Her touch is one of elegance, craftsmanship and relentless precision.
Sue Pryke Contemporary handmade tableware
English Sue Pryke started her ceramic journey in a small pottery in Lincolnshire where she learned everything about ceramics. In her final year of university she took part in a national competition and won a travel bursary to see production techniques in factories in Europe, and a work placement with Wedgwood. Which led to a fulltime position as a shape designer. On this journey her fascination for repetitive forms began. Her designs are of a high quality, have warmth, are simple and pared down with an understated elegance.

“I’m inspired by the everyday and the ordinary; material qualities, textures and the interaction we have with objects. Small details and preferences which reflect the intuitive decision making we all make on a daily basis when choosing what cup to take from the cupboard for a cup of tea.”

Sue Pryke is the new judge on The Great Pottery Throw Down!
"I was thrilled to be asked to be a judge for The Great Pottery Throw Down. It’s such brilliant programme for championing pottery and I’m delighted to be joining the team. I love ceramics and the show has been really influential in getting people switched on and interested in pottery. It’s an exciting show to watch and I can’t wait to find out who Britain’s best home potter is going to be!
The Great Pottery Throw Down starts on 8 January 2020 on More4 and will be repeated by Channel4 on 12 January.
