Dīpā oil lamp

Dīpā is a beautiful oil lamp, machined and hand finished in solid brass. Each cylindrical lamp houses a hidden reservoir of oil to fuel the cotton wick at its center. The polished spherical basin softly reflects the flickering light, echoing the luminary extent of the flame. It includes a lamp, wick and wick holder.

Building on relationships with craftspeople and artisans stretching back over the past two decades, Mumbai based design studio Casegoods develops are produces both by and with exceptional makers. Often family run organizations, several of these craft based collectives go back more than 40 generations. The tacit knowledge, deep understanding of materials and methods, and willingness to engage in an iterative design practice to achieve the best outcome make their contributions to both process and product invaluable.

Spec sheet

care: we find beauty in the marks of unique character, subtle variations of grain, figure, and texture inherent in materials that deepen through use and patinate over time. The lamps can be semi-regularly polished with any brass cleaning agent to recover its original shiny gold look. However, we recommend it be left to age naturally.
