Diya oil lamp
Diya is a traditional cast brass oil or butter lamp with a cotton wick dipped in vegetable oils. Designed to last a lifetime, with a contemporary expression and will age beautifully over time. The use of oil lamps started thousands of years ago in different cultures and fortunately is making a comeback. The light is brighter candlelight and a vegetable oil serves as fuel for the cotton wick. When you light the wick, the brass gently reflects the light from the flickering flame. Mix the two different sizes for a warm and inviting installation. Each set includes around 50 wicks that can be cut in half to provide around 100 wicks for the small Diyas. The oil is not included, but typically (in India) oil from nuts and seeds is used. We recommend to use sunflower oil.
Important: the Diya bowls will get hot when used. Place them on a heat resistant surface and don’t leave unattended.
