Thinking about creating an eco-friendly, cosy bedroom for your kids? Here are a few tips to get started.
Tip 1: use organic bedding
A natural kids bedroom starts with organic bedding. In fact, this is the single most important purchase you can make for your little one, as they will spend as much as 16 hours a day in bed the first years. Use linen bedding, a tencel or pure wool duvet and look for an organic matras.
Tip 2: choose for natural materials
Solid wood, soft linens, a jute rug. With natural materials you create a cosy, warm nook for your little one while keeping out toxics. Look for sustainably harvested wood, VOC-free paint and flooring like bamboo or wooden planks, with a jute or woolen rug.
Tip 3: reuse
Many baby and kid items are used short-term, yet have plenty of life left in them. Reuse of second-hand furniture requires no additional resources to manufacture and therefore better for the environment. It’s easy to add color to a piece of furniture, just make sure you use eco-friendly paint.
