Armadillo is inspired by collaboration, a search for the uncommonly beautiful, and most of all, the human touch. All of their rugs are infused with the rich history and artisanship of the hands who have created them. Armadillo rugs are 100% handmade, using Fair Trade practices with natural and sustainable fibres. We just love these ethical and sustainable rugs and are happy to have these in store!
More about the designers
Armadillo was founded by Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst. What they couldn’t find, they decided to make. Their intention to make a positive impact within artisan weavers communities became a reality. "We strive to leave as little impact on the earth as possible. Our carpets are crafted from natural and recycled materials, which not only have an inherent respect for the environment but also speak volumes with their organic tones and honest textures. Each rug is made consciously and responsibly, designed to counteract today’s throwaway culture and stand the test of time, both in their aesthetic and unquestionable quality."
Crafted by hand
"We are passionate about the beauty of the handmade. From spinning and dyeing to weaving and finishing, each of our rugs is nurtured on its journey from fibre to finished product by the skilled hands of our extended family of artisans in India. We are honoured to preserve a lineage of craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations and imbues each rug with a gentle energy, rare soul and sensory purpose."
Socially responsible
"We believe in giving back to the community. We are ardent supporters of Care & Fair, an initiative against illegal child labour in the carpet industry in India, Nepal and Pakistan. We proudly embrace Fair Trade practices, ensuring fair wages and safe working environments for our artisans. Proceeds from each sale are donated to The Armadillo Foundation, building a brighter future for children in our weavers’ villages."
