Simply living well

Simply living well By Mölle

Your wellbeing and happiness start at home. Natural materials are biodegradable, reduce stress, stimulate creativity and improve your immune system. The By Mölle collection embodies pure nature, crafted from healthy, ecological materials of the highest quality, including European linen, the softest mohair, organic wool, and recycled denim. Each material is carefully designed and selected based on quality, certifications, and sustainability. You may not always realize it, but harmful substances are often added to many products in your daily life. We spend up to 65 percent of our time indoors. Hence, it is crucial to prioritize a healthy living environment both at home and at work.
a healthy sleep By MölleOn average, you spend about a third of your life in bed. The bedroom is the place for your body to recover and recharge. Researchers have shown that sleep significantly contributes to the recovery of your body and brain, making a good night's sleep even more important than exercise and nutrition combined. Sleeping is not just about how many hours you sleep per night, but especially about the quality of your sleep. The deeper the sleep, the better you can recover. A nice bedroom where you can relax is, in addition to rhythm and regularity, important for the quality of your sleep. A good mattress, pillow and bedding help with this. Did you know that some of the best-selling mattresses in the world, such as (cold) foam, polyether, or memory foam, are chemically made from petroleum? These materials involve the addition of numerous harmful substances during production, including CFCs, fire retardants, and UV filters, which are known to cause health problems. If you are in the market for a new mattress, pay close attention to its quality. Your skin is the largest organ and can directly absorb various substances, including chemicals present in the materials you come into contact with.

what can you do to improve your sleep?
A great start is to investigate what you sleep on or under. What is the quality of your bedding and mattress? It is essential that your bedding and mattress not only provide comfort but also meet high standards in terms of materials, responsible production, and recyclability. A natural mattress breathes better, is hypoallergenic, has a self-regulating capacity, can adapt to the climate and is cool in summer and warm in winter. This also applies to duvets filled with down, the vegan version filled with organic cotton and pure linen bedding made from flax from Europe.botanical wellness By MölleMore and more people are allergic to all kinds of substances. Most skin care products that we use every day, such as soap and shower foam, contain synthetic ingredients. Our skin is our largest organ - almost two square meters - and is also called the third kidney. Especially after showering, the pores of your skin are open and you are more susceptible to toxic substances. Therefore, use natural soap and towels made from natural, organic materials such as linen because linen is hypoallergenic, antibacterial, absorbs well and dries quickly.

clean and environmentally friendly
For a clean bathroom, floor or clothing there are many eco-friendly alternatives that clean just as powerfully as chemical options, and contain no harmful substances. The soap ingredients are made plant-based and safe, completely biodegradable into CO2 and water. What also works well to clean your house on an environmentally friendly basis are the old-fashioned home garden and kitchen remedies such as natural vinegar, soda, green soap, methylated spirits and lemon juice. With a few drops of essential lavender or mint oil you give it an extra nice scent. In the past, this was even the only way to clean. Not so long ago, almost every household had an enamelled rack with three trays marked 'sand', 'soap' and 'soda'. You can still see them for sale in some vintage shops.

home scents
Every year, we spend billions of euros worldwide on air fresheners, scented candles, toilet sprays and fragrance sticks. A nice natural scent creates a pleasant atmosphere in your home. To reduce costs, many of these products contain a cocktail of synthetic fragrances and phthalates, also known as plasticizers. Some phthalates affect the hormone system. Especially with incense sticks it appears that the air quality can deteriorate considerably. A 2009 study found that some dust particles from indoor incense are as toxic as cigarette smoke, increasing the risk of developing lung cancer. Therefore choose natural fragrance sticks with 100% essential oil without phthalates, synthetic oils and fillers.

beeswax
Tea lights are often made from paraffin, a chemical by-product of petroleum. It is created during the distillation of motor oil. If you burn those candles inside, toxic substances can be released and you pollute the air in the house. Not only bad for the environment, but also for your health. So look for candles based on natural ingredients, such as beeswax or vegetable wax from rapeseed, rapeseed or soy. Our beeswax candles are 100% natural and are made in the Netherlands by a traditional candle maker. They give off a calm flame and an aromatic scent that resembles honey. Unlike paraffin candles, beeswax candles are hypo-allergenic. Not only great for people with allergies or other sensitivities, but also for those who want a clean-burning candle in the house.natural living By Möllepure wood
Wood in your interior gives a beautiful natural look and is strong and versatile. When purchasing furniture, give preference to vintage furniture or FSC wood. If you choose local wood with the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®) quality mark, you can be sure that it comes from responsibly managed forests. In these forests, felling is done in such a way that the forest has sufficient time to recover.

Many cabinets, beds, tables and laminate floors are made of compressed wood such as MDF and particle board and contain formaldehyde. This wood is not recyclable and is often burned. Formaldehyde that is used as a binding agent during the pressing of chipboards is also harmful to the environment and can cause health problems. Formaldehyde evaporates in your home and is absorbed into your body through contact with the skin or mucous membranes or through inhalation. It has become one of the biggest air polluters in our homes. Fortunately, there are plenty of sustainable alternatives to be found. In our collection you will only find sustainable design. Beautiful, responsible and timeless. You pay a little more, but it is a fair price for craftsmanship and solid quality that you can enjoy for years.

linen curtains
With linen curtains you give your home a beautiful, natural look. Linen is made from flax and is 100% natural. Flax grows in Europe and does not require pesticides or large amounts of water. Because of the warm appearance, linen curtains complete your interior. In addition, linen curtains generally also have an insulating effect. If you go for a linen curtain, you not only opt for a beautiful appearance, but also for a nature-friendly material.

Some advantages of linen curtain fabrics:
- Linen curtains are 100% natural
- Linen fabrics have temperature regulating properties.
- Give the room an attractive natural look.

did you know?
You may not always realise it, but harmful substances are often added to many products in your daily life. The amount of chemicals and toxic substances has increased considerably in recent decades. Professor Dr. Majorie van Duursen (professor of toxicology at the VU University Amsterdam) leads the FREIA project, a study into the disruptive impact on hormones by chemicals such as plasticizers, flame retardants, perfume, preservatives, air fresheners, water-repellent substances, etc. through the mouth or the skin into our body. In food, skin care, cosmetics and clothing, more and more is known about the negative impact of the toxic substances on your health. It is precisely the range of different substances that makes it a complex problem. It is mainly accumulating quantities that pose a serious threat to health. That is why it is so important that we also think about a healthy living environment at home and at work. We spend as much as 65 percent of our time indoors.

Our inspiration comes from Biophilic design, which means 'Love for Life'. Healthy natural materials are one of the main pillars of the By Mölle collection, as are natural colours, shapes and sustainable techniques. As far as we are concerned, things must and can be done differently. That is why we are committed to producing sustainably and ecologically. This is not only less harmful to the environment, but also better for your health.
