Santa & Cole is a small, independent editor of design products, with its roots in Barcelona, Spain. The company was founded by Nina Masó, Javier Nieto Santa and Gabriel Ordeig Cole in 1985, during a decade of upheaval in Spain when anything seemed possible in the wake of the dictatorship. They focused on sustainable and ecological production of exceptional furniture, and carefully edited contemporary lamps that reflect the company philosophy of quality over quantity.
"In every new product, choosing the right materials is one of the most important stages of our creative process. We are free to carefully tailor the materials and processes to each specific case and its requirements. We work with the best suppliers and industrial craftsmen, mainly in Spain, ensuring excellent standards of quality to the eye and to the touch."
Over the last three decades, Santa & Cole has developed the collection with Spanish and internationally recognized designers, including Miguel Milá, Arne Jacobsen and Ilmari Tapiovaara. According to the company’s founders, these diverse collection “converge in a common philosophy: not accumulating but rather selecting; not delighting in quantity but rather in quality; not to show but rather to share.” Conscious of its place in 'material culture, the Santa & Cole contemporary lighting range showcases the thoughtful work of more than 80 designers, and the company's desire to champion design distinguished by superior quality, supreme functionality, and longevity.
The Cesta table lamp is a design from Miguel Milá for Santa & Cole. This enchanting, handcrafted lamp has been shaped using traditional steam bending techniques and is delicately polished and sturdily put together. It consists of a subtle cherry wood structure that holds an opal-shaped glass shade. Cesta is an excellent object and lamp, perfect for placing on a tabletop or resting on the floor, and the light can be dimmed according to preference.
