In our search for artisan crafted baskets we found a fair trade, ethical association in Bangladesh, that works with women-led small businesses. Set-up in 2004 to help fight poverty in Bangladesh, and now working with over two thousand mothers and young women throughout Bangladesh. Using locally grown, environmentally friendly natural materials such as jute and hogla (local sea grass) these women make the most beautiful baskets and bags, while working with traditional skills in their home environment.
We love the purity and unique designs of the jute bags and baskets. Each piece is unique in texture, shape and color. By creating this sustainable collection of bags and baskets women are now able to send their children to school, and pay for books, pens, shoes and uniforms. Their craft supports the health, education, and economic stability of their families. We believe that is a powerful way to effect change.
