Saana ja Olli is a designer couple and an award-winning design company from Turku, Finland. In their work they value timelessness and human touch. For this carpet collection they designed a set of three print designs, Aitta (granary), Kievari (tavern) and Piilopirtti (hideaway) that are a coherent, yet distinguishable collection. The motifs have an elegant and simple graphical look that has picked its inspiration from architectural drawing. ”We designed a rug collection, which combines hand-drawn lines and timeless design influences”, Saana and Olli explain.
The ecological undyed and upcycled cotton base sits perfectly beneath the hand-drawn lines, which are highlighted by natural, muted colors. In addition to the ecological material, the light weight allows the rugs to have multiple purposes: they can also be used as seat covers, wall-hangings or even cushions.
