Let's celebrate spring

Spring is in the air. A time to open the windows and let fresh air come inside your home. Spring begins on March 20th. At the same moment, the Southern Hemisphere enters the autumn season. The spring equinox marks the day when the sun passes over the celestial equator. The length of day and night is equal all over the planet. The word ‘equinox’ means ‘equal night’ in Latin. For thousands of years spring is a time of rebirth and celebrated by many cultures around the world. Symbols of new life were key to the tradition: eggs, rabbits, flowers, and seeds. By Mölle springHow are Ostara and Easter alike?
Ostara (or Eostre) is the Germanic Goddess of life and fertility. Her return is celebrated during the spring equinox. The days are getting longer again, the light wins from the darkness and spring begins. In the past, the ancient fertility symbols of Ostara were the egg and the hare. The name Eostre resembles Easter. It is therefore thought that Ostara formed the basis for the Christian Easter feast. The date of Easter can also be calculated by looking at the spring equinox. With the equinox as the starting point, you look in the lunar calendar for the next full moon. The first Sunday that follows is Easter Sunday.
