We are excited to share a great home with you from Nora Eisermann & Laura Muthesius. They have a huge passion for food traditions, good design and interiors and on @ourfoodstories they share delicious gluten-free, vegetarian recipes and beautiful curated images. Nora and Laura spend their time between Berlin and their countryside studio to stage their shoots and dream up new recipes. They organise gatherings and frequently invite friends and family over to participate in their shoots. Recently they bought a dream home in Sweden. We have been working with Laura and Nora with great pleasure for a number of years. Both in their German apartment and in their new vacation home in Sweden they sleep under By Mölle linen. We are excited to share a couple of their fine photos with you.
How did Our Food Stories started?
"Our aim was to create delicious gluten free cake recipes that taste as good as a normal cake. At that time it was nearly impossible to find a piece of gluten free cake in a coffee shop in Berlin and the rare gluten free sweets in an organic shop didn’t really taste good. So we started to create our own recipes and it worked out so well that we wanted to share them. All our recipes are gluten free and vegetarian, some are vegan, some refined sugar free."
Can you tell us more about your home in Sweden?
"Buying a house in Sweden has been a big dream for us and we are incredibly grateful that we could fulfill this dream last year. When we discovered the area Skåne in Sweden, we fell in love with it. We always thought of fairytale like forests and red little houses when it comes to Sweden and were so surprised to find sandy long beaches and hilly landscapes in Skåne. The nature is incredible and to be so close to the ocean is all we could wish for. After looking at two other houses we found our absolute dream house. It was important for us that the house was in a good condition, so the renovation work wouldn’t take too long. One of the most important spaces is our bedroom, so we decided to give it all the attention at first."
Why natural materials like linen?
We love the feeling and look of natural materials. Linen is especially one of our favorite materials! It's great for dressing a table but also for bed sheets we always prefer linen, it keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. For the bedroom we choose By Mölle linen in honey and flax.
What inspires you?
Nature is what inspires us most, apple and pear trees, berries, cherries, walnuts, elderberries, fresh herbs and many more things are growing in our garden. Almost all the food we use for our recipes and in our daily life is from an organic shop, from our garden or from the local farmers market. As we love to share our food with family and friends we started the series Dinner Stories. The idea behind this series is to show people (who are not used to eat gluten free) how easy and delicious it is to prepare gluten free meals, and that you don’t have to eat alone if you have to follow a certain diet. And of course, it’s also nice to have a glimpse in other kitchens, right?
What does slow living mean to you?
Our lives are actually not that slow right now, as we are in the middle of a big renovation :). And as we are self employed we always tend to work a little bit too much. But last year we started to find a better balance and try to take most weekends off from work to make some time for slow living. But even during busy days and weeks it can be possible to do "slow living". For us this term stands for mindfulness and to enjoy the moment, so how busy a day might even be, you can always practice to be present in the moment.
What are your plans for the near future?
We actually never make too many plans for the future and always take each day as it comes.
Can you share a favorite recipe with us?
Of course! One of our favorite recipes is probably this gluten-free Pavlova.
