Everything is organic made in harmony with nature, manufactured in Finland at the company’s own factory. What means Hetkinen?
"A lot of people have asked us about the word Hetkinen. Hetkinen is a Finnish word and means wait a minute in English. When the Finns are thinking something, they usually say Hetkinen. As we all live a hectic life nowadays, it is important to have a Hetkinen moment for yourself. Stop for a while and calm down, it is your Hetkinen for yourself."
What does sustainability mean to you?
"All products are made of 100% natural ingredients. They don´t contain any artificial fragrances or additives. Our entire product line is vegan. All ingredients we use are plant based. We want to decrease global consumption of plastics, and we felt it was our duty to create a fully recyclable line. None of the packaging materials contains plastic. When we use nature´s offerings, we are committed to protect the forest. We oppose clear-cutting forest and stand up for animal rights."
What inspires you?
"We are a Finnish company that admires and gets inspiration from Japanese culture. The influence of Japandi design can be seen in our products with wabi-sabi enthusiasm. Our designs are planned to be fit for everyone regardless of gender, age, or skin type. Our style is simple and clear. There’s no need to hide our products in the closet. We designed them to bring spark and beauty around you. For us, the most important in product planning is a minimalistic practical design combined with responsible materials."
Japandi design is the perfect fusion of Scandinavian functionality and Japanese rustic minimalism to create a feeling of art, nature, and simplicity.
What does the forest mean to you?
"We respect the wisdom and the healthy benefits of the Northern wilderness. The Finnish soul has always been linked with something magical about the forest. The green colour is calming: the gentle rustling of the leaves and pine needles is like music. Finns feel good in the forest. The forest provides protection and peace. We want to share this feeling. We only use Finnish pine wood. The highest quality wood comes from the harsh climates of Finland, where the tree grows slowly, making it a durable and dense material. Pine is the most common tree variety in Finland, and it has a very sustainable population." 
Can you tell us more about your veggie candle?
"Our veggie candle is like a small fireplace. The vegetable wax in the candle contains spruce resin that burns cleanly and without emissions. Between using the candle, the melted wax creates beautiful layers in the candle, just like annual rings in a tree. The soothing crackle of the wax candle and long, dancing flame of aspen heart wick. Flame allows you to relive fond memories or create new ones in a warm, comfortable atmosphere. So enjoy more than just a candle. You smell smoked wood aroma, spruce resin and selected essential oils."
Your candles has a wooden jar?
"Doing it the Hetkinen way, there is, of course, a wooden wick in the candle. The name says it all—instead of a cotton wick they have a wooden one, and it makes a soothing crackling sound as it burns, almost like you’re sitting in front of a fireplace. The Finns are known in the world for their sauna culture. The most common material used for the sauna bench is aspen. The tree substance of aspen is soft and therefore doesn’t retain heat. Aspen also works excellently as a wick of a candle. It burns peacefully and safely without big crackles. Wooden wick requires a bit more than a normal wick candle. When you trim the black part away from the wick between burns, you will always have a candle that burns beautifully. The wooden jars are manufactured from Finnish Pine heart wood. No chemicals are used in the process as the tree is naturally antibacterial. Our supplier is PECF certified (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), and we can trace the wood all the way to where the tree was planted."
